Tips for Cooking with Kids-Teach Your Kids to Cook This Summer!

With summer vacation here you're going to have more time with the kids and what could be a more perfect A summer cooking school? . There are a lot of really good cookbooks for kids....you know, the ones with the kid friendly photos. They get kids excited about cooking. Nothing's better than being able to have your kids go into the kitchen and make something you've taught them.  Let's face it.....we all have to eat and one day when the kids leave home they'll be on their own and if they know how to cook/bake they may be more inclined to cook for themselves rather then eat the fast food.(just maybe)  Cooking is a skill they will use the rest of their life. Let's have fun with it!

Fun Way to Display Your Family Photos Plus, Every Child is an Artist, Vinyl Wall Quote

Here's a different way to display your family photos, whether it be in your kids rooms, family room or living room.. Make your child the star of his own photo wall.  Make them as long or as short as you want.   It's a casual look but so darling and so easy to do. Now you've got a great idea for what to do with that large wall in your home, you know, the one that has been blank forever because you can't decide what to put on it? Yeah, you've got this!

I love the look of this cable art system being used as home decor with your family photos. You could also do a "collage" of  vacation photos. How about using pictures of things you've made/designed or your accomplishments. Photos of friends would be fun for a teenager. Are you a cat or dog lover? Put up photos of your pets.  How put clippings and photos of your favorite sports team? The skies the limit of what you could hang on your Cable Art Wall. Head on over to Every Creative Endeavor  to see  what she used and find out how to do this fun photo display.  There are more photos too that you'll want to see.

Here's a tutorial for the cable art system from Positively Positively Splendid It's a little different than the system above, but you'll get the idea.

This type of system is also really great for displaying your kids artwork. Use it in their bedroom or out in the family room or kitchen where everyone can enjoy it.   Here's an earlier post about using the cable art system for kids artwork. Click HERE to see it and check out the wall quote below. Let it be the final touch to your art wall.

You can find this wall quote in our Etsy shop  Click HERE to go directly to it.

These Aren't Ordinary Vegetable Plates/Centerpieces!-Fabulous Displays

How to get the family to eat more veggies? One way is to make them fun! Instead of just putting them on a plate make a fun centerpiece out of your veggies. Use vegetables as containers for the dip....as I always say, we eat with our eyes first!  Below are some fun things to do with veggies,m plus a link for 14 videos that show you how to arrange and carve videos.  Good luck on your quest to get the family to eat more vegetables!

Such a cute way to display vegetables and so many different ones.  Get more details

This vegetable centerpiece is doubling as a veggie cake. Such a great idea.

Love the look of this one. I've used a cabbage as a cup for the dip and it looks great and is easy to do. Use some of the outer leaves around the base. When you're done with the veggie tray just slice up the
cabbage and make some coleslaw. Eddie Ross

I liked the simplicity of this vegetable plate, especially liked the dips inside the peppers. It is a great idea to use the vegetables as bowls or cups.  Click HERE

This vegetable tray would be perfect for your Thanksgiving table.

These vintage berry boxes are a great way to display vegetables. There's the hollowed out cabbage for dips again.  You could  use any type of berry box for this cute arrangement

Another simple idea but now the vegetables become the main centerpiece down the center of the table.  Bowls of dip are placed within reach of your guests.

Looks like you're using every vegetable there is for this centerpiece. Squash is the base with flowers made out of fruits and vegetables. (no tutorial)

Isn't this a beautiful centerpiece... Tonya Staab

This vegetable centerpiece is all about asparagus-wrapped around the flower vase and then used as a place card holder. So cute!  Better Homes and Garden

So pretty! For an edible arrangement replace the roses and smaller flowers with vegetables and fill the artichoke with dip instead of a candle. Love the veggies wrapped around the candles.  Divine Party Concepts

Want to know how the professionals arrange and carve vegetables?  Here are 14 different videos for you to select from.  It's a mini class from home!
